This algebra and functions lesson focuses on creating story problems. The lesson includes researchbased strategies and questions that help prepare students for assessments. In this lesson, students read the number sentence and object. Then, they create a story problem that includes how many objects the person has, how many objects are added or subtracted, and what the last sentence tells us to do. Finally, students should read their story problems aloud. In addition to the lesson, there are four pages of Independent Practice and review with questions modeled after current adaptive testing items.
