Plot Points of a Linear Relationship

TEKS Math: 5.8.B

(B) Describe the process for graphing ordered pairs of numbers in the first quadrant of the coordinate plane

CCSS Math: 5.G.2

5.G.2 Represent real world and mathematical problems by graphing points in the first quadrant of the coordinate plane, and interpret coordinate values of points in the context of the situation.

This measurement and geometry lesson focuses on plotting points of a linear relationship on graph paper. The lesson includes research-based strategies and questions that help prepare students for assessments. In this lesson, students draw a straight line that passes through the given points on the graph paper. Then, they plot addition points and identify any that are in the linear relationship, Finally, they interpret the points in the linear relationship aloud. In addition to the lesson, there are four pages of Independent Practice and review with questions modeled after current adaptive testing items.
