This reading literature lesson covers how to determine the central message in a narrative or literary text. The lesson includes research-based strategies and strategic questions that prepare students for assessments. In this lesson, students will read the text, identify a character, and then identify a clue word that shows the character learned a lesson about life. What the character learns is then identified as the central message.
