Write a Narrative

CCSS ELA: W.2.3

W.2.3 Write narratives in which they recount a well-elaborated event or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure.

TEKS ELA: 2(12)(A)

2(12)(A) Compose literary texts, including personal narratives and poetry.

This Common Core writing lesson helps students practice writing a narrative. In this lesson, students will review given story details (character, setting, events, and ending) and place these in a graphic organizer. Then, the students will write a narrative in complete sentences based on the prewriting organizer. In addition to the lesson, there are four pages of Independent Practice and review modeled after the Common Core assessment items.
