4(3)(B) Use context within and beyond a sentence to determine the relevant meaning of unfamiliar words or multiple-meaning words.

This language lesson teaches students how to determine the correct meaning of multiple-meaning words using nearby context clues. The lesson includes research-based strategies and strategic questions that prepare students for assessments. In this lesson, students will see multiple definitions for the same word and then must choose the word with the definition that matches the context of the sentence. In the second activity, students are given a multiple choice option and they must identify which sentence uses the multiple-meaning word in the same way as the example.
