7(6)(D) Paraphrase and summarize texts in ways that maintain meaning and logical order.

This reading literature lesson covers how to summarize a story in a literary text. The lesson includes research-based strategies and strategic questions that prepare students for assessments. In this lesson, students use a graphic organizer to take notes on setting, characters, and plot (main events, conflict, resolution). Then, they summarize the story based on a detailed checklist of what to include or not include.
