Describe Plane Objects

TEKS Math: K.6.A

(A) Identify two-dimensional shapes, including circles, triangles, rectangles, and squares as special rectangles

CCSS Math: K.G.4

K.G.4 Analyze and compare two- and three-dimensional shapes, in different sizes and orientations, using informal language to describe their similarities, differences, parts (e.g., number of sides and vertices/"corners") and other attributes (e.g., having sides of equal length).

This measurement and geometry lesson focuses on describing plane objects. The lesson includes research-based strategies and strategic questions that prepare students for assessments. In this lesson, the students look at a picture of a plane object. Then, they write the number of sides and the number of corners for each plane object. In addition to the lesson, there are four pages of Independent Practice and review modeled on current adaptive testing items.
