Record Data By Counting

1.MD.4 Organize, represent, and interpret data with up to three categories; ask and answer questions about the total number of data points, how many in each category, and how many more or less are in one category than in another.

This statistics, data analysis, and probability lesson focuses on recording data by counting. The lesson includes research-based strategies and questions that help prepare students for assessments. In this lesson, students read the question and count the number of each of the different items. Then, enter the numbers as tally marks in the correct row on the tally chart. In addition to the lesson, there are four pages of Independent Practice and review with questions modeled after current adaptive testing items.
