This writing strategies lesson focuses on choosing the form of writing that suits the intended purpose. The lesson includes research-based strategies and strategic questions that prepare students for assessments. In this lesson, students read a scenario and identify any clue words that help to identify the intended purpose. Then, they select the form of writing that best suits the intended purpose (factual report, persuasive essay, movie review, narrative, etc.). In addition to the lesson, there are nine pages of Independent Practice and review with questions modeled after current adaptive testing items.
