This chemistry lesson focuses on drawing Lewis dot structures. The lesson includes research-based strategies and strategic questions that prepare students for assessments. In this lesson, students find the number of valence electrons in an element. Then, they write down the element symbol and draw the Lewis dot structure by placing the dots clockwise around the element symbol. Finally, they write down the number of unpaired valence electrons available for bonding. In addition to the lesson, there are five pages of Independent Practice and review modeled after current adaptive testing items.
