This algebra and functions lesson focuses on using the distributive property in expressions with variables. The lesson includes research-based strategies and strategic questions that prepare students for assessments. In this lesson, students identify the factor and then multiply the factor outside the parentheses to each value inside the parentheses. In addition to the lesson, there are four pages of Independent Practice and review with questions modeled after current adaptive testing items and six flash cards.

This Algebra 1 lesson teaches students how to use the properties of real numbers to perform computational procedures. The lesson includes research-based strategies and strategic questions that prepare students for assessments. Students will read partial equations and complete them by determining, writing, and justifying the real number property that applies (Commutative, Associative, or Distributive). Then, they will perform the operations to prove the results do not change. In addition to the lesson, there is one page of Independent Practice and three pages of periodic review.
