In this lesson, students use the central idea to correctly group related ideas. This lesson uses the grouping of ideas to write short paragraphs. Plan and Write an Opinion Piece
This writing lesson covers how to plan an opinion piece. The lesson includes research-based strategies and strategic questions that prepare students for assessments. In this lesson, students will develop a planning chart that asks two questions about a given topic. The two questions identify their opinion on the topic, and then at least two reasons why they think that.

Edit Writing
In this Common Core writing lesson, students will practice rereading and editing texts. In this lesson, students will edit texts for proper capitalization, punctuation, and spelling. Revise Writing
This Common Core writing lesson focuses on students revising written work to make it better. In this lesson, students will read a text with the main idea identified. Then, they will add or delete sentences that support or don't support the main idea. Write a Narrative
This Common Core writing lesson helps students practice writing a narrative. In this lesson, students will review given story details (character, setting, events, and ending) and place these in a graphic organizer. Then, the students will write a narrative in complete sentences based on the prewriting organizer. Plan and Write Informative Text
This writing lesson covers how to plan informative text. The lesson includes research-based strategies and strategic questions that prepare students for assessments. In this lesson, students read the research and identify related information that is needed to complete a graphic organizer. Then they complete the graphic organizer which asks for a topic and three facts. In addition to the lesson, there are four pages of facts and details related to topics for review and organizing.

Write Informative Text
This writing lesson helps students practice writing informative text. In this lesson, students will read given research notes on a topic, then develop a topic sentence and supporting detail sentences.

Use Technology to Produce and Publish Writing
This writing lesson is intended to guide students through the process of publishing writing using a word processor.

Form and Use Irregular Plural Nouns
This grammar lesson covers the use of irregular plural nouns. The lesson includes research-based strategies and strategic questions that prepare students for assessments. In this lesson, students will learn how to form irregular plurals using patterns, such as –an to –en, -y to –ies, -f to –ves, and no change.
